What vegetable best describes your personality and why?
Frisée! It’s bold, offbeat, and grows in a lot of funny, curled directions (because why just pick one?!). It also makes a great side, but prefers to be the main ingredient. :)

Growing up, a family friend of ours had an apple tree in their front yard. They had a big party one summer and while all of the other kids were running around the yard playing hide and seek, I spent the entire game hidden in the apple tree just chompin' away. I ate upwards of 10 apples in one sitting and was genuinely astounded by the fact that something so delicious could be found in nature - not just at my local grocery store or in the kitchen. I have a friend who lives on an apple and pear orchard now and I take every opportunity I can to visit.

Anything you want people to know about?
School closures during the pandemic have had lasting effects beyond education. Many students rely on their school to provide 2-3 meals per day, and don’t have access to enough food at home - especially healthy options. This is why it is so important that kids are getting healthy food at school. Organizations like The Coalition for Healthy School Food not only work in partnership with schools to provide healthy foods and food education to their students, but have also been supporting students and their families during this time, delivering meals and making food drop-offs in underserved areas.
